A tummy tuck procedure, also known as Abdominoplasty, is a plastic surgery procedure which is performed in order to make the abdominal area more slim and firm. The tummy tuck surgery is performed mainly for aesthetic reasons.
When one wants to remove excess skin and limp stomach muscles to achieve a slimmer look for themselves, a tummy tuck is the logical choice. In this procedure, an incision is made in the low abdomen area, just above the pubic region, from hip to hip. Once the stomach muscles are held in place, the excess skin is cut and removed. Fat tissue is rarely removed in a tummy tuck surgery and will only be extracted with excess skin. Once the removal is done, the skin is then sewn back and stretched accordingly.
A tummy tuck recovery takes between 1-4 weeks, depending on the volume of your surgery. An elastic waist band is required for a few weeks in order to speed up the healing process.
